More information:

The City of Turku invites students from Turku to explore the city on Turku Day 17.9. in the form of a free appro. Now in its third year, appro is a great way for new and old students to get to know Turku and what it has to offer, while creating fun memories of Turku Day with other students.

During the Appro, students will walk around Turku Day sites of their choice in the city and collect stamps on the map. In exchange for a stamped map, they can redeem great overall patches that proclaim their Turku identity. The Appro routes include the City of Turku Museums, Åbo Svenska Teater, Kakolanmäki Wastewater Treatment Plant and Posankka Race.

There is no pre-registration for the Turku Day event, but maps will be distributed to the first 1000 participants. The Appro maps will be distributed at the information point at the Old Great Square on the morning of the event from 10.00, when the Appro run starts. The information desk closes at 18.30, by which time participants should go to claim their earned patches. Completing the Appro requires 6 stamps, but there are also two higher diplomas for the hardest working students: junantuoma turkulaine (“arrived in Turku by train, not by birth”) patch is awarded with 9 stamps and paljasjalkane turkulaine (”Åboriginal, born and raised in Turku”) patch with 12 stamps. In addition, for those who have completed higher degrees in previous years, there is a brand new patch!

Whether you've lived in Turku for a while or have recently moved to Turku, every student can be a paljasjalkane turkulaine! So jump on Föri and go on an adventure around the city!
